About This Chapter

The Pennsylvania Dutch CPCU Society Chapter is a community of credentialed property and casualty insurance professionals who promote excellence through ethical behavior and continuing education.

The CPCU Society is committed to providing resources, educational programs and Pennsylvania Dutch CPCU Society Chapter leadership opportunities that attract talent and enable individuals to expand their technical insurance skills and business capabilities in order to improve the overall performance of the insurance industry while adhering to the highest ethical standards.

The PA Dutch Chapter's 80+ members hold the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) designation, which is conferred by The Institutes and requires passing rigorous undergraduate- and graduate-level exams, meeting an experience requirement, and agreeing to be bound by a strict code of professional ethics.

To those who have obtained the CPCU designation, congratulations! You are one of the elite in the insurance industry. Our chapter is the pre-eminent organization of insurance professionals in the Lancaster area. Our membership is dedicated to supporting excellence in the community. Most of our members enjoy leadership roles with various other organizations.

If you are working on your designation, we are here to help. Our members can actively assist with your educational activities. We know that the course work is time consuming and the exams are difficult. In these hectic times, a little guidance and mentoring can be invaluable. So keep going, the CPCU designation is certainly an achievement that will enhance your career for many years! And please, do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

Our small chapter is growing because we deliver what our members want. This has led to formal recognition by the National Society for our membership activities. We excel at our two core products:

  1. Education - Our monthly speakers present information about cutting edge topics. Several seminars are provided each year for CE credits. These are well attended and have become increasingly popular.
  2. Networking - New friends and contacts are made at monthly meetings. We have several social events during the year that are opportunities to meet & greet other insurance professionals.

A Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter is primarily focused on Property & Casualty insurance. It is important to realize that the P&C industry has been a hugely stabilizing force in our current troubled economy. Even during one of the worst economic crises, we have responded to meet the needs of our customers. Each day, claims are being paid, buildings are re-built, damages are repaired. P&C companies continue to employ many people and have not had massive layoffs. As each carrier pursues increased efficiencies in operations, opportunities are created. The CPCU designation is an important stepping stone in recognizing and responding to those opportunities. We will proudly continue to serve the needs of our customers and our Nation.

Please feel free to join us for one of our monthly meetings. These are held the 2nd Thursday of each month. You do not have to be a member or have the CPCU designation to attend.
